Saul of Tarsus, persecutor of Christ-followers, was struck by a blinding light on the road to Damascus. This encounter with the Son of God changed his life forever. He became a brave hero of the faith, known by all as the great Apostle Paul, fighting to bring the Gospel to the Gentiles as well as the Jews. Paul took three missionary journeys, planting churches along the way. The letters he wrote to those churches and to individuals like Timothy still guide believers today. During Paul’s service to the Lord, he was mocked, beaten, stoned, jailed, shipwrecked, and ultimately beheaded. He never wavered in his determination to r...

John Kerry, the US Secretary of State, said Assad's brutal force had robbed him of all legitimacy. Kerry was followed by Walid al-Moallem, Syria's Foreign Minister, who said no one had the right to remove Assad except the Syrians, and accused the West and neighbouring countries of supplyin...

It’s one of the most fascinating cities in the world, and it’s a city that I’ve wanted to visit my entire life. Finally, along with my friend David (https://www.instagram.com/the.hungry.tourist/) and Rafram, we explored Jerusalem to discover the food treasures the city has to offer - and let me tell you, you’ll find some incredibly delicious food in Jerusalem! We started off the Jerusalem food tour by first walking around East Jerusalem and starting with the best plate of hummus I’ve ever had. We then toured around Old Jerusalem, and enjoyed some incredible Palestinian food kebabs cooked by an incredible man who cooked with serious love and passion. Another highlight in Jerusalem was the mutabak, a thin pastry stuffed with cheese and baked. After eating our way through Old Jerusalem, we then headed into West Jerusalem and went to lunch at an Israeli Jewish restaurant serving a mix of amazing dishes. The food was home-cooked in style, and absolutely sensation. A few more snacks and sightseeing throughout the afternoon, and that brought us all the way to dinner where David had made reservations to eat at one of the hottest restaurants in Jerusalem, Machneyuda Restaurant. It was quite an experience, and an amazing meal and lively atmosphere to wrap up this ultimate Jerusalem food tour. Here’s all the food and places included in this Palestinian food and Israeli food tour of Jerusalem: Hummus Acramawi Price - 20 ILS ($5.57) per plate Almond juice - 3.90 ILS ($1.09) Al-shuala Grill Restaurant Shawarma - 26 ILS ($7.26) Al Baghdadi Kabab Palestinian kebabs Total price - 100 ILS ($27.89) Zalatimo Sweets Mutabak Price - 30 ILS ($8.37) each Peaches - 10 for 1 kg Plums - 10 for 1 kg Fruit - 10 ILS ($2.76) per kg. Mahane Yehuda Market Azura Restaurant Total price - 400 ILS ($111.55) Western Wall (Wailing Wall) Western Wall Tunnel Price - 35 ILS ($9.76) per person Dome of the Rock Mount of Olives Machneyuda Restaurant Total price - 700 ILS ($195.21) It was a lot of food in a single day, but it was one of the greatest food and learning days that I’ve ever had in my life. The generosity of the people we connected with, paired with the food, was truly a memorable experience in Jerusalem. Wide of summit STORYLINE Iraq refused to endorse the final statement from the Arab League summit in Syria on Sunday because it does not condemn "terrorism" in the war-torn country. Shiite Vice President Adil Abdul-Mahdi says Iraq has "reservations" about the statement because of the lack of a terror condemnation. The Iraqi objections came at the summit's final session, when Arab League chief Amr Moussa read out the "Damascus Declaration," a final joint statement, for the delegations to approve. The statement called on "Iraqi brothers to stop bloodshed immediately and preserve the lives of innocent citizens" and for the hastening of the "end of the foreign presence" in Iraq. The statement read by Moussa also warned against Israel's "policy of blockades and the closing of crossing points" and called on the United Nations to intervene in order to improve humanitarian conditions of the Palestinians. In the joint statement, Arab leaders also mentioned the need for a speedy resolution to the political crisis in Lebanon. Mideast. Representatives of the Internal Damascus Platform touted the creation of a Syrian "national unity government" during a press conference in Geneva on Tuesday. The group, which represents members of the Syrian internal opposition, had just held talks with UN Special envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura. Member of the organisation Elian Mousad said the group had proposed "a new regime and a new constitution," which he said would be discussed "in the fourth round [of talks] to be started in May." SOT, Member of the representatives of the Internal Damascus Platform Elian Mousad (Arabic): "We propose the idea [of a national general congress] to solve the question of the interrim period. That is the transitions from an old regime, old constitution, to a new regime and a new constitution." SOT, Member of the representatives of the Internal Damascus Platform Elian Mousad (Arabic): "Mr de Mistura said that it would be important to expand on this idea [of the Internal Damascus Platform's transition plan] and to provide further clarification about this in the fourth round to be started in May. He announced this very clearly, it's not confidential." SOT, Member of the representatives of the Internal Damascus Platform Elian Mousad (Arabic): "Mr de Mistura is a man of peace. His efforts, unfortunately are being sabotaged by many, especially the Riyadh opposition group. They are hotheads. They are behaving in a way that is not encouraging, through their repeated walkouts on the talks." SOT, Member of the representatives of the Internal Damascus Platform (Arabic): "On the national unity government, the idea is political participation because political transition requires a unity of state institutions, what we need is partnership. And what the Riyadh group is proposing is not logical. We believe they are being misguided by certain countries." SOT, Member of the representatives of the Internal Damascus Platform Elian Mousad (Arabic): "Concerning the 12 points, they are not secret, they were publicly announced by Mr de Mistura, we were we able to analyse them and study them very carefully. They are not the product of Mr de Mistura's thinking, but his synthesis of the points of convergence between the various delegations. Of course this outcome was the result of a great effort on his behalf. As to our response, it is all yes, yes, yes, no reservations except on the point of the reform of the army because we believe it is not acceptable to accept in the army, armed battalions as is the case at the moment." SOT, Member of the representatives of the Internal Damascus Platform Elian Mousad (Arabic): "What we said is that some members of the armed factions after the end of hostilities and after there are beginnings of reconciliation, and a return to normal life then these members of the armed factions would become ordinary citizens again." SOT, Member of the representatives of the Internal Damascus Platform Elian Mousad (Arabic): "Concerning direct talks, we have been asking for this since day one. It is not our delegation that has been imposing conditions or putting a veto on this idea. It is up to the UN to decide who among the armed factions or fighters, who is a terrorist or who isn't. We are ready to negotiate when it is decided by the international community and the Syrian state, who is there to negotiate." Stained Glass Theatre continues its’ Season of Heroes with The Damascus Road by Ron Boutwell, opening Thursday, February 26th and running through Saturday, March 28th. He never wavered in his determination to run the race, for he was “not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ.” www.sgtheatre.com or call 417-581-9192 for reservations.

Syrian refugees from two camps in Jordan said on Wednesday that they did not believe an international peace conference that was taking place in Switzerland would do anything to halt the bloodshed in Syria. Delegates from around 40 countries are attending the talks in the Swiss city of Montreux, in the hope of forming a transitional government and putting an end to the nearly three-year-long conflict. Just hours after the conference began, there was a bitter clash over Syrian President Assad's future. John Kerry, the US Secretary of State, said Assad's brutal force had robbed him of all legitimacy. Kerry was followed by Walid al-Moallem, Syria's Foreign Minister, who said no one had the right to remove Assad except the Syrians, and accused the West and neighbouring countries of supplying weapons and foreign fighters to the rebellion, garnering criticism from the US and United Nations Chief, Ban Ki-Moon. The fighting in Syria has killed more than 130-thousand people and left millions of refugees, either in camps or squats in neighbouring countries or within Syria's borders. Many of the refugees agree there's little hope of a breakthrough during talks. "We don't trust the international conference (Geneva 2 talks), we didn't get any benefits from Geneva I conference, the bloodshed and killing is still going on, we don't expect anything from this conference," said Zuhair Abu Kharoub, Syrian refugee from Daraa. Regardless of the outcome over the next 10 days, they want Assad to be held accountable. "After he killed, slaughtered and displaced people, he must be held accountable," Kharoub said. But another man, who did not give his name and kept his face covered said, "We know our regime, Bashar, our regime is repressive, and it's impossible that the regime will leave peacefully, if the regime believe in peace we won't see such bloodshed." While talks continue, so does the bloodshed with Syria's state media reporting clashes between government forces and opposition fighters in the suburbs of Damascus, Daraa, Idlib and Aleppo.
